PPDS announces the latest evolution of its hospitality TV range, with the launch of Philips MediaSuite Premium 4K TVs.

The latest additions to the growing Philips MediaSuite with Android TV™ OS family include the new slick and stylish Philips MediaSuite 6214U series, and a new 55” variant to the MediaSuite 5214U family, bringing unparalleled choice, quality and cost-saving opportunities to the hospitality industry.

Hailed as the world’s most complete all-in-one hotel TV entertainment solution, the new Philips MediaSuite TVs combine all the innovative, world-first features of previous premium models, while utilising the latest market feedback and research to ensure all current and future needs – including those around design, hygiene and vison impairment – are catered for. Ensuring an unrivalled home-from-home experience.

Energy efficiency also remains a leading factor. Adding to the extended lifetime promise that allows businesses to benefit from the latest features and functionality for longer, minimising WEEE disposal, each of these latest released MediaSuite TVs has a F-rated energy label, with the 75” achieving an E. Making them the professional TVs with the best rated energy efficiency labels on the market today.

New design, new experiences, more choice

Available in 43”, 50”, 58” (new to the MediaSuite family), 65” and 75” variants, the wall mountable 6214U is PPDS’ most stylish and most energy efficient Philips MediaSuite TV range to date*, providing 400 nit, 4K UHD picture quality and a brand new, near bezel-free full metal anthracite colour design.

Complementing the MediaSuite 6214U range, the new 55” MediaSuite 5214U brings a new size option to the existing 43” and 50” family released in the range last year. Featuring a new, virtually bezel-free black design, the 5214U offers 350 nit, 4K UHD picture quality and comes equipped with a stylish table stand out of the box. Wall mounting is also available, depending on preference or room requirements.

This latest release takes the total number of Philips MediaSuite TVs from PPDS to 11, ranging from 19”-75”, with options to suit a wide variety of budgets and environments, whether for a global hotel chain or a small guest house.

Jeroen Verhaeghe, International Business Manager for Hospitality, and the mastermind behind Philips MediaSuite, commented:

Since launching in 2019, Philips MediaSuite has redefined the role of the hotel TV, setting a new standard for control, personalisation and entertainment choice for the guest, while bringing once unimaginable back-end control and management options, to truly allow hoteliers to take control of the experience they want to offer. In just a short period of time, Philips MediaSuite has become the go-to-choice for many of the world’s leading hotel chains, becoming a market leader in a number of major markets, including the Nordics, DACH and, most recently, the Benelux.

Keep it clean

Mirroring previous models, the latest MediaSuite TVs can be remotely managed using the exclusive PPDS CMND platform and, designed on an Android OS, firmware can be regularly updated with the latest features, functionality and security updates.

With hygiene being of paramount importance to hoteliers and guests alike, Philips MediaSuite 6214U TVs also now come equipped with a Philips Premium Hygienic Remote Control. Made from anti-microbial materials, the remote is entirely cavity free – including no raised buttons and an anti-theft battery cover – allowing for fast and simple cleaning and reducing the risk of harmful germs and bacteria being spread.

In addition, with MediaSuite TVs running on the latest Android TV OS, their remote controls feature a highly secure, ‘push to talk’, Google Assistant microphone, allowing guests the choice to control popular services, such as Netflix and YouTube, through voice activated commands, or via dedicated shortcut buttons.

For maximum inclusivity, MediaSuite remote controls can also include the Google Talkback feature, providing spoken word and other audible feedback to let users that require assistance to know what’s on the screen. Longer battery life also helps to reduce timely staff interventions and costly battery replacements.

Jan Van Hecke, Global Product Manager, Professional TV at PPDS commented:

Hygiene has never been more important nor more scrutinised. The TV remote control can, without regular cleaning, harbour some very unpleasant and potentially harmful inhabitants, none of which you’d willingly want to pick up. It’s a serious issue and, with our hygienic remote controls, we want to help guests and hotel staff enjoy the safest and cleanest environment possible.

No wires, no additional expense

With Chromecast built-in™ featured as standard on all Philips MediaSuite TVs – the first professional TVs to do so at launch (2019) – guests using MediaSuite 6214U TVs are able to cast and enjoy movies, videos, presentations and more in up to 4K, from their own personal device (Android, iOS), giving them greater control on how and when they wish to consume content.

In addition, the inclusion of Chromecast built-in™ eradicates unsightly external hardware and removes risk of theft, while keeping external wiring to an absolute minimum for more secure, cleaner installations. The inclusion of Chromecast built-in™ removes additional and timely hardware investments, installations (no app downloads), servicing costs and licencing agreements – estimated at more than €100 per TV. Better still, it allows users to cast confidently, safe in the knowledge that their data will be wiped from the TV at check-out.

Users have secure access to thousands of popular apps on Google Play, including popular services such as local news, weather and traffic information, as well as content streaming from providers such as YouTubeTM, Deezer and Spotify, as well as Disney+ and Apple TV+.

MediaSuite TVs are also Netflix-ready, allowing users to enjoy seamless access to all their favourite movies from the world’s most popular streaming platform via a unique, embedded app.

The best just got better

Verhaeghe added: “The needs and demands from our partners and their customers never stops evolving, whether it’s how or when people choose to view content. It’s therefore imperative that we stay one step ahead to ensure we’re not only prepared and ready to cater for the needs of today, but to be able to adapt immediately should the environment suddenly change or evolve tomorrow”.

He concluded: “With Philips MediaSuite 6214U and 5124U, we help to put the guest in control of their experiences. Whether that’s viewing linear TV, catching up with their streaming shows, or casting content from their own personal device to the big screen, MediaSuite lets them feel at home. The days of sitting in a hotel watching TV in a language you don’t understand or watching the latest blockbuster on a small mobile phone or tablet are long gone”.
