The emergence of Opal LED platform in response to growing demands.
From traditional advertisements on the outside wall of buildings, vertical roadside billboards, huge screens in sports spaces, to landscape walls in hotel lobbies, and various advertising walls in shopping malls nowadays... LED fixed display applications are everywhere.
In recent years, with the advancement of LED packaging and production techniques, such as the emergence and development of flip-chip, common cathode technology, etc., as well as the scale and standardization of the LED display industry, the application fields of LED displays have been further expanded.
The pixel pitch of LED screens is smaller, and the resolution and level of integration are higher.
Market Trends & Challenges Faced in Fixed Installation
Size and Costs
The building structure often limits the traditional LED fixed installation. Since the consideration of LED installation is after the building construction, it is difficult to perfectly match the size of the building structure in the subsequent design and installation. Factors such as electricity need to be taken into account as well.
Therefore, customizations are necessary for many projects, which significantly reduces installation flexibility and increases installation and maintenance costs.
LED displays are considered as an essential factor in the design of many new buildings, but the screens still need to accommodate the building wall. Many LED manufacturers have developed screens of different sizes to meet the needs of such projects.
The size of outdoor panels is often large. Common sizes include: 1280960 mm, 640960mm, 960960mm, 12001200mm, etc. The indoor panels for fixed installation are smaller: 600 337.5mm, 610343mm, and 604.8 × 340.2mm in a 16:9 ratio, or 500*500mm in a 1:1 structure.
Whether indoors or outdoors, the LED display is developing for higher definition and smaller pixel pitches. Outdoor fixed installation projects were still dominated by P20 or above products five years ago, but P5-P8 products are now common. Some indoor projects have widely used products below P2.5. The trend also puts forward higher requirements for the accuracy of LED displays.
From product design to installation structure, the precision of fixed products is also increasingly ideal. The screen body has changed from the original iron panel to the aluminum alloy and die-cast aluminum panel. And the profile materials changed from steel structure to aluminum. Accordingly, the accuracy of the material is getting higher.
Higher Standards on Contrast
It is widely known that the contrast ratio is one of the vital criteria for measuring the quality of LED displays. The higher the contrast ratio, the clearer the image, the brighter the color, and thereby users get better visual effects.
For fixed products, most applications aim to attract the audience's attention. Therefore, the higher the contrast ratio gives LED screens more advantages in the display.
In the past, outdoor advertising displays used white lamp beads to improve the light-emitting efficiency of LED panels. The display during the day was unsatisfactory, affecting the advertising effect and the audience's visual experiences. At present, black lamp beads are preferred, and darker masks provide a better contrast solution.
In indoor small-pitch fixed installation applications, the number of LEDs is increasing per unit area, and almost all panel areas are light-emitting. The contrast will directly affect the color, brightness, HDR, and other display effects of image or video content. Currently, the mainstream uses flip-chip lamp beads, or black ink lamp beads with larger and high-brightness chips, providing extremely black colors.
Energy Saving and Safety-related issues
The LED display is a "high energy consumer". With the increasing awareness of energy saving, environmental protection, and sustainable development, it is necessary to make the LED panel more energy-saving and economical. Also, the safety of use is another focus. There are mainly several technical solutions to reduce energy consumption, including common cathode LED lamp beads and common cathode driver chip design.
Emerging Opal LED Platform as an Ideal Display SolutionRealizing the issues raised by LED screens in Fixed Installation Market, ROE Visual came up with the idea of the Opal series.
After the R&D process by the expert team, the Opal LED Platform was launched with its creative design of universal frames. Specially designed for the small pixel pitch market, the series stands out of its types and contribute to a quick and efficient fixed installation with maximum flexibility and creativity.
What is Universal Frame?
As a versatile LED platform, the Opal series adopts the universal die-cast aluminum frames available in three different sizes, applicable to various applications. The intuitive installation with high-precision frames and connecting accessories make seamless LED displays possible. Mounting, hanging, or stacking, the product offers a range of choices for various scenarios.
The universal frames apply indoors and outdoors, and users only need to change the modules when required. The outdoor Opal module adopts LVDs signal connections, resulting in a great extension of the distance between the module and the power signal box, increasing the flexibility of module installation.
Unparalleled Visual Effects: Wide Color Gamut and High Contrast
Opal indoor version adopts the common cathode 4-in-1 mini lamp bead solution and common cathode driver IC chip by MBI.
It supports a high-definition HDR display, and the color gamut covers 95% of DCI-P3 and 86% of BT.2020. The 4-in-1 black face LED increases the protection, solves the problem of easy damage when installing small-pitch displays, and reduces customer usage, operation, and maintenance costs. It also provides higher contrast LED visuals.
Energy Saving by Common Cathode Technology
The screen temperature of the Opal common cathode LED products is reduced by 13°C more than that of the conventional common anode ones. Also, the power consumption is reduced by up to 20% compared with the common anode products. The Opal series realizes an accurate power supply to reduce the power consumption of LED displays.
